MASTER CLASS IN FIGURE DRAWING
John
Viljoen
Skillful figure drawing is at the core of any serious art student’s
training. In this program, class time will be divided between lectures,
demonstrations and drawing from the model. The instructor will demonstrate
how to capture the gestural curve of a pose while maintaining an
accurate drawing through the process of drawing a basic envelope,
blocking in the form, contour and shading. Students will take figure
drawings to various stages of completion as they learn about the
structure of the body. Each student receives individual attention
at his or her drawing board or easel.
- This is an ARC approved Atelier
course.

MASTER CLASS IN PORTRAITURE
John
Viljoen
Live and accurate portrait painting or drawing is the greatest
challenge an artist can face. To paint a person clearly and simply,
with beauty and strength, to paint the humanity inside the person
through their outer body is the hardest and greatest goal. To render
with the skills of past masters while still feeling fresh, to capture
a portrait that feels like it is alive and full of intelligence
and emotion, is to jump into the world of the great artists of times
past. The only pre-requisites for this course are a serious work
ethic and a sincere desire to learn.
