 When's the last time you
promised to do something for
yourself? Many of us spend time
doing thoughtful things for others. And we make promises about what we will do for ourselves... when we just get a bit of free time. But do we follow through?
There has been a clear shift in the last few years from adults
wanting to 'have more' to wanting to 'be more'. As more people
tune in to the fulfillment that comes from expressing themselves
through the arts, the Avenue Road Arts School continues to offer
an exciting variety of classes to meet the needs of rank beginners
as well as more advanced students.
When we create, we discover
who we are – we discover that
we 'are' much deeper, much more creative and perceptive, than
we had ever given ourselves credit for. This is a wonderful feeling.
Children and adults leave their classes with a glow of satisfaction
on their faces. This feeling comes from their surprising themselves – from
discovering that they could do something they never imagined they
were capable of doing. It also comes from the tremendous relief
that one feels escaping the day-to-day concerns we all experience.
We hope that you will come to the Avenue Road Arts School and find
out for yourself how rewarding it can be to learn in a warm and
congenial atmosphere – and to be inspired by teachers who
are accomplished both as artists and instructors. It's time to
keep your promise to yourself.

Think of the Avenue Road Arts School and think of the little magical house with the sun over it – the logo that has become so well known to students who attend term after term and year after year. It has become the embodiment of what the School stands for: warmth, support, creativity and a sense of community.
Walk through the doors of the Victorian house and see that the
Arts School is a creative hub. The School continues to meet the
needs of its students by ensuring high quality arts instruction
in a variety of media, at different levels and at convenient times.
From
the hundreds of surveys recently completed by our students, we
learned of the desire for Sunday classes. As of September, we
will be open seven days a week. To meet the needs of students interested
in the performing arts, we have added new courses like Making
a Movie, Improv 101 and Vocal
Studies for Teens. Feedback has shown
us that students wish to have integrated courses that could be
attended by both kids and adults. This year, we have introduced
the Family Clay
Workshop – classes for parents to attend with
children from JK-Grade 6. In response to many adult students searching
for more classes in traditional studies, the Arts School has added
more classes in Advanced
Landscape, Anatomical
Drawing and Realism
in Painting.
Try walking through the door of the little house
and explore, discover and create in our amazing community.
