Great Gulf Doors Open May 28 & 29

Join us at the School and explore the architectural glories our building has to offer as we participate in the Great Gulf sponsored 2016 Doors Open. On Saturday, May 28 you may see how a once residential building has been transformed to house a leading Toronto arts school. On Sunday, May 29 you have the opportunity to meet our instructors, watch demonstrations, take part in hands-on activities, view student work and even hear some stories about the paranormal beings that inhabit our building!

Doors Open Toronto at more than 155 locations this weekend

The 16th annual Doors Open Toronto presented by Great Gulf returns this weekend, offering rare access to more than 155 architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings across the city. Many of the locations will host exhibitions and architectural talks, and 14 walking tours are available.

Dates: Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24
Times: Most venues will be open to media and the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Since its inception in 2000, Doors Open Toronto has attracted more than two million visits to nearly 650 unique locations across the city. It is Canada’s largest Doors Open event and one of the three largest Doors Open events in the world. Doors Open Toronto, dedicated to built heritage, architecture and design, is presented by Great Gulf and produced by the City of Toronto in partnership with the broader community.

Spring Workshops and Mini-Classes Offer a Perfect Creative Getaway!

Experience your ‘art fix’ this spring! If you feel time-strapped, haven’t got a moment to spare but want to experience some creative inspiration and learn some new techniques, come and get a taste of what the Avenue Road Arts School has to offer through the spring workshop series.

SENSATION 2016 – NEW DATE – June 2

We are organizing our 6th annual group show, exhibiting work from faculty and interested adult students. This year the exhibit will take place in a very large and interesting space: W Studios in Toronto is a design house that manufactures artistic and creative rugs, often using original paintings and artwork. This is a fabulous space which provides an engaging forum for artists to display their work and showcase talents.
