“Finding ways to engage in creative activities (such as drawing, singing or acting) helps you achieve a more balanced, centered state of mind. Humans have a primal need to engage our imaginations, and if we don’t, we can become depressed or disaffected. Through creative activities, we can really express who we are and see that we have unlimited choices. And you don’t have to be a Picasso or Pavarotti to experience the benefits. Regardless of skill level, being creative is so absorbing that everything else that’s bothering you just gets put on the back burner, and you’re focused on the moment and what you’re doing in that moment.”

Adult students experience a warm, congenial and supportive environment to learn and create in. The large roster of programs, are designed to allow each individual to advance at his or her own pace. Each class offers a nice balance between challenging, fun, creative, and skill-based approaches. Working with professional instructors who are practicing artists, helps to inspire students and ensure the latest studio approaches are being taught. Small class sizes allow for plenty of one-on-one attention, guidance and critique. The School boasts a real sense of community and both the novice and advanced student find programs that will enhance individual styles of learning.
Students are given various opportunities to display their work both at the School and at outside venues like galleries and restaurants. Our online gallery and Facebook page allows adults to showcase their work to a wider audience.

Registration Recommendations: We highly recommend starting with a drawing class, to begin developing a solid foundation in art. Should you wish to dive right into painting, we suggest that you do make the time to go back at some point to experience a drawing class. As well, it is recommended that students explore different approaches and varying subject matter in different terms to begin to assist in the development of their own artistic voice. Exploration, exposure to varying materials and different perspectives can enhance the creative journey. Some students may choose to study in the same program every term to keep building on particular skills. Returning students will be accommodated by the instructor and will continue developing skills and techniques at their own level. You may choose to register for one term at a time but we do not hold the space in any class. To ensure a space in our popular programs we recommend registering for the full year. Full year discounts apply. Please see our policy page for more information.
