Adult students experience a warm, congenial and supportive environment to learn and create in. The large roster of programs, are designed to allow each individual to advance at his or her own pace. Each class offers a nice balance between challenging, fun, creative, and skill-based approaches. Working with professional instructors who are practicing artists, helps to inspire students and ensure the latest studio approaches are being taught.

Ceramic Sculpture

with Audrey Mah

Experience the pleasure of expressing yourself through clay. Discover the stress relieving qualities this tactile medium has on your well-being. Students work in stoneware and earthenware clay, using techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab construction, modelling, mould making, press moulding, slip casting and throwing on a potter's wheel. Along with clay building, students are encouraged to experiment with exciting glaze combinations on both functional and sculptural pieces. A deeper understanding of form and surface will be developed, through an awareness of historical and contemporary ceramic work. Students' individual needs and experience level will be met in this class, beginner to advanced.

Creating with Clay

In this introductory program, students will learn the basics of working with clay, explore the materials and tools and learn how to create successful pieces of art with this beautiful medium. Students will also have the opportunity to try their hand at working on the potter's wheel, as well as learning hand building and glazing techniques. A variety of ideas for creating and decorating clay will be introduced and explored. Materials & firings included.
