Adult students experience a warm, congenial and supportive environment to learn and create in. The large roster of programs, are designed to allow each individual to advance at his or her own pace. Each class offers a nice balance between challenging, fun, creative, and skill-based approaches. Working with professional instructors who are practicing artists, helps to inspire students and ensure the latest studio approaches are being taught.

Advanced Watercolour Painting

with Moira Clark

This course is intended for students with strong previous experience in watercolour painting and who wish to continue painting with this medium at an advanced level. Students will be able to expand their painting skills by learning new techniques and working within a project-based program. Varied subject matter and themes will be explored including painting from the imagination, self-directed projects and multi-media works. Material list provided.

Impressionist Watercolour Painting

with Moira Clark

The medium of watercolour has changed over the last few years and can be used in a more spontaneous way to create beautiful works of art. In this class, students will be inspired by the painting styles of Monet, Cezanne, Sisley and others, to create watercolour paintings that echo the great masters' approaches. Using both traditional and experimental watercolour techniques, and working from images, students will paint their own impressionistic landscapes, still life, florals, gardens and cafeĢ settings. Watercolour Painting

with Moira Clark

This course is designed for students who wish to learn the basics of watercolour painting, and also for those who wish to further develop their level of skill and knowledge with this medium. Students will learn colour mixing and theory, the use of watercolour brushes and how to paint with the transparency of watercolours. Participants will also explore various techniques such as making washes, painting wet-into-wet and using resist processes. The course also covers the fundamentals of composition and perspective and students will work with a variety of subject matter including still life, landscape, portraits and subjects of their own choice. Drawing skills can vary. This course also offers students the opportunity to study watercolour beyond the basic level if they wish to continue during successive terms. Material list provided.
