Discounts

Students who register in the fall for a minimum of one class in each of the fall, winter & spring terms will be entitled to a 5% discount off one winter & one spring class. ARAS Members in good standing receive an additional discount. Get the details.

Payment Plans

Payment plans can be arranged for those registering for more than one term or for those registering more than one family member in one term. Payment plans must be made through the office with post-dated cheques or pre-authorized credit card payments. Some restrictions apply. Please contact 416.961.1502, ext. 303 or email us for details.

Family Arts Workshop (3-6 years with a parent/caregiver)

Enjoy an integrated arts class with a little one in your life. Join your child as they explore and enhance their imagination through visual art, drama and musical activities. Through mixed media-based art projects, cooperative drama and role-playing exercises, creative movement and musical activities and songs, your child will develop new skills and self-esteem - all while having a ton of fun.

Kid’s Art Studio (formerly Mixed Media) (JK-Gr. 4)

This engaging and dynamic program is perfect for the child who wants to learn many art techniques, while creating diverse and imaginative projects. Each term students will create different, unique and individualized art pieces through a variety of themes and subject matter. Projects will include drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, clay and numerous mixed media-based concepts, using an array of fun and tactile materials and techniques suited to each age group. Students will also be introduced to various techniques and artists from art history.

Little Characters (JK/SK)

Young artists will be introduced to exciting themes through visualization and drama exercises, while they create works of art that will be used in developing imaginative and unique stories and characters. Students will use a variety of art materials while working on creative 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art, which will then be incorporated into story-telling, drama and creative movement activities.

Science Art (SK-Gr. 2)

Using a variety of art materials, young artists will combine their creative imaginations with their curiosity about the world around them to create multi-layered art pieces. Each term students will become scientist/artists to explore and create art projects inspired by the scientific world. Themes will include human and animal bodies, archaeology, geology and the earth, environments and ecosystems, light and energy and outer space

The Canadian Artist's Studio (Gr. 1-4)

"Oh, Canada! Our home and native land." In this mixed-media based class students will create, sculpt, paint and incorporate printmaking, layering and assembling while exploring the nature and wonder of Canadian geographical regions. Each term students will create different, unique and individualized art pieces, as a variety of fun and interesting materials and techniques are utilized. Emphasis will be placed on the artist’s approach and process in the creation of a piece of art.

Scrap Booking, Collage & Découpage (Gr. 1-4)

Nicola Wismer

This unique class explores the art of collage and decoupage through the creation of 2 and 3-dimensional pieces. Students will have the opportunity to work with many different materials, including ceramics, boxes, paint, drawing materials and papers with interesting textures, patterns, and surfaces. In this class the finished pieces are reflections of a process that involves layering, thought, time, and care and each piece will have personal meaning to the artist. In class students will also learn about the art of scrap booking. Each student will receive a notebook, which will be decorated in class, and can be continued over time at home.

Stop Motion Animation (Gr. 4-8)

Eva Ormut

Watch out Hollywood! In this course, students will create a stop-motion animated film from start to finish. The class will create a storyline, accompanying storyboards, puppets, props & backgrounds, as well as animate and film their work. Storywriting, drawing, painting, sculpting, filming and drama are all used for the creation of films that are then edited by the instructor and a copy given to each student.

Design Your Own House (Gr. 4-8)

Using mixed media techniques students will design their own house. Each student will begin with an abstract concept and end the term with a clear representation of their house in drawing and scale model form.

Exploring World Architecture (Gr. 4-8)

Barbara Lilker

Students will travel through time and space, visiting landmark buildings and structures for inspiration in their own design concepts. Using mixed media, as well and 2 and 3- dimensional methods of representation drawing, scale model building, collage-the class will explore the fundamentals of architectural design while discovering how architecture defines time and space.
