Take a ride in our art time machine and explore the wonderful world of imagination, colour and fun art materials and tools. From the Egyptians to Renoir to Picasso to Andy Warhol, children will create two-and three-dimensional art pieces, exploring colour, pattern and texture based on some of the most famous artists and art pieces of past and present. This mixed media based class will allow children to explore and learn about many art materials and techniques and is designed to give young artists an appreciation and understanding of art history in a fun and creative way. In a studio filled with exciting materials and tools, students will turn their ideas into works of art that will be their very own masterpieces!

This engaging and dynamic program is perfect for the child who wants to learn many art techniques, while creating diverse and imaginative projects. Each term students will create different, unique and individualized art pieces through a variety of themes and subject matter. Projects will include drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, clay and numerous mixed media-based concepts, using an array of fun and tactile materials and techniques suited to each age group. Mysteries of the World with Mixed Media (Gr. 1-4)

Do you love a good mystery? Do you find things like the pyramids, the Lost World of Atlantis, Big Foot or UFOs exciting? Join this class and explore some of the most intriguing mysteries of the world through creative mixed media art projects. Using paper, cardboard, clay, fabric, wood, paint and many other art materials, students will recreate magical three-dimensional structures and phenomena from the past and the present, leaving their unique fingerprints on each of the pieces they complete. Students can imagine their own legends and stories as they learn some of the history behind each of the unexplainable wonders.

Video Animation (Gr. 4-12)

Watch Out Hollywood! In this course, students will create a stop-motion animated film from start to finish. The class will create a storyline, accompanying storyboards, characters, props & backgrounds, as well as animate and film their work. Storywriting, drawing, painting, sculpting, filming and voice-over work are all used for the creation of films that are then edited by the instructor and a copy given to each student.
