Choose a month:Dec. | Jan. | Feb. | March | April | May | June March 2010Workshops for Kids & TeensIntro to Singing (11-14 yrs.)Sunday, March 21 & 28, 1:00-3:00 pm When children learn to sing it stimulates their creativity and teaches them to be communicative and expressive. This performance-based workshop will help kids to improve vocal and singing abilities, develop performance and presentation skills and build confidence and stage presence. Young singers will be taught to breathe from their diaphragms and proper song interpretation; breath control, pitch and harmony will all be part of this dynamic workshop.
Includes all materials Intro to Musical Theatre (7-10 yrs.)Sunday, March 28, 10:00 am-12:00 pm This workshop is a perfect introduction to the junior Broadway-bound child. If your child loves to act, dance and sing, this is your opportunity to have your child participate in a unique and active program. This workshop will have your young performer singing, dancing and acting. As a group, the class will put together a musical production number, from a well-known musical.
Includes all materials Easter Egg Decorating Workshop (7-10 yrs.)Sunday, March 28, 1:00-4:00 pm Children will have a blast learning this traditional form of painting and decorating eggs to celebrate and mark the Easter season. Students will create Pysanky or Ukrainian Eggs while they hear about some of the history of the art as well as learn how these beautiful eggs are made. Materials include colourful vegetable dyes, paints, markers, wax, crayons, special jewels and of course eggs!
Includes all materials Abstract Painting for Kids (10-14 yrs.)Wednesday, March 31, 4:30-6:00 pm In this fun and creative workshop, students will learn all about spontaneity and experimentation as they develop conceptual ideas and create their abstract paintings using acrylic paint. Helpful visual information on modern art will be provided with an emphasis on composition, balance, colour, form and symbolism. Collage and various media can also be used to experiment with different techniques.
