| Arts School Offers Course for Teachers | Gallery Event Coming Soon! |
| In the
last few years, the provincial government has cut back funding for arts
specialists in public schools, leaving hundreds of thousands of children
deprived of the enjoyment and benefits that arise from quality arts programming.
To help fill in this gap, Julie Frost, who has been on the Arts School's
faculty for the last five years, has designed a program to give teachers
the skills and confidence to introduce the arts to their students.
Teachers attending the course cover a variety of topics including: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, Drama, Integrating Drama and Visual Art and Assessment. Teachers' responses to the course have been extremely enthusiastic. Joanne and Nicole, from Dennis Avenue School, say: "It has changed the way we look at assessing and teaching art in the classroom." Integrated Arts for the Teaching Professional will be offered yearly, Fall, Spring and Summer. For more information on Integrated Arts for the Teaching Professional, call the school at 416-961-1502, or visit our website.
