Acrylic Painting Workshop

This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of colour
theory, paint handling and application, while developing one's
own creative and perceptual skills. This is an introductory course
in acrylic painting, suitable for beginners or as a "refresher" for
those who have not painted recently. With plenty of guidance and
individual attention, students will feel ready to explore the next
step in painting upon completing this intensive workshop.

Using collage as a source of inspiration,
students will consider the forms and techniques used in this
medium. The instructor will demonstrate how collage can act
as a basis for imagery in painting and a starting point for drawing
sketches.

Master Class in Figure Drawing

Skillful figure drawing is at the core of any serious art student's
training. In this 5-day workshop, class time will be divided
between lectures, demonstrations and drawing from the model.
The instructor will demonstrate how to capture the gestural curve
of a pose while maintaining an accurate drawing through the process
of drawing a basic envelope, blocking in the form, contour and
shading. Students will take figure drawings to various stages
of completion as they learn about the structure of the body.
Each student receives individual attention at his or her drawing
board or easel.

Master Class in Landscape Painting

The Impressionists. The Group of Seven. Though they
all had studios, their primary and essential work was done
from life, in the field, en plein air. This is your chance to
join this fine tradition. In this week-long intensive class,
students will learn how to paint out of doors, including the
set-up of paints and equipment. Instruction will focus on developing
techniques to examine the visual components of landscape painting,
including basic color relationships, patterns, and the understanding
of light and shade. Each class will begin with a short demonstration
by the instructor; students will also be given individual instruction
within the group to address specific needs and levels of experience.
Open to all levels – inspired beginners welcome.

Learning from the Masters

This workshop is designed for students
who wish to gain a greater knowledge of the techniques used
by the Masters. Students will learn the methods to building a
painting by reproducing works of traditional painters. Time-honoured
skills will be demonstrated and discussed with a focus on glaze
painting. Students may work in oil or acrylic.

This workshop is designed for students
who love to draw and are willing to expand their imagination
and enhance creativity and self-expression. Projects will include
a variety of subject matter including portraiture, applying different
media such as graphite, conté, chalk pastel, ink, pen,
and a combination of different media. Students will be encouraged
to explore techniques and to develop their own visual language.

Abstract Painting

This is an inspiring, process-oriented
workshop for anyone who is willing to delve into the creative
journey towards abstract representation. Students will be encouraged
to explore language, to foster emotional richness, spontaneity
and experimentation and to develop conceptual ideas. Supportive
visual information on Modern Art will be provided with an emphasis
on composition, balance, colour, form and symbolism, the representation
of motion and the superimposition of images in the organization
of space. One on one and group critiques are aimed at enhancing
individual growth. Media will include mainly acrylics and
liquid acrylics. To experiment with different techniques
students may use collage and various media.

and self-expression, this program will encourage students to
explore the exciting effects and textures created by combining
acrylics with various media such as oil pastels, gels, collage,
and a variety of texturing materials. Both representational
and non-representational painting styles will be explored. Numerous
demonstrations and samples employing different techniques and
subject matter will be presented, while students learn about
composition, colour, shape and texture.

Introduction To Drawing & Painting

Designed for the novice painter or
those who would like a "refresher" in the basics of drawing & painting,
this program introduces students to an exciting range of techniques
and approaches to creating your own images. The elements of design
will be addressed, including perspective, composition and basic
colour theory. Students will learn all the techniques necessary
to create one finished drawing. This completed piece will then
be the basis for a painting. Plenty of individual attention will
be provided as you study the necessary steps to creating your
two finished pieces.
