You will learn to create more expressively, freely and with more confidence. In this virtual class, you will begin to understand how line as contour, positive forms and negative shapes, light and shadow, perspective and proportion all affect composition and the mood and feel of a drawing. Working from several sources and subject matter, you can explore both drawing for its own sake, or as a first step toward painting.

2B and 4B lead pencils

2B and 4B charcoal pencils

1 box Willow charcoal, different thicknesses

Conté sticks, black, white, red, or brown and any other colours you choose

small cardboard greyscale chart

Erasers, 1 hard white for pencil and 1 kneadable grey for charcoal

1 drawing board

1 pad of cartridge paper

a couple of sheets of pastel paper in neutral colours

2 jumbo clips

masking tape

ruler

If you have access to a standing or table easel, please use it. If not, you can sit at a table to draw
