Explore the concepts behind abstract painting using the transparency of watercolour. You will be encouraged to use experimentation and be spontaneous in the development of your own painting ideas. Discover freedom in your painting style and learn to approach subject matter in a new way. Plenty of photo references of contemporary and modern art will be provided to illustrate how composition, balance, colour, form and symbolism make abstract and modern art paintings into powerful art pieces. You will learn colour mixing and theory, as well as the use of watercolour brushes. Weekly demonstrations will be provided in this online adult painting class, as you explore techniques such as washes, painting wet-into-wet, resist processes, and the fundamentals of composition and perspective. This online class is appropriate for both the beginner and intermediate painter who would like a refresher program.
