
Have you always wanted to paint? Or have you started a painting and just abandoned it out of frustration? Join this class, suitable for beginners or those who have not painted in some time. Learn the basics of colour theory, the study of light and shadow, composition, visual perspective, brush work, paint handling and paint application. You will start to look at things like an artist – with a more detailed and critical eye. Varied subject matter will be explored, using visual images. With plenty of demonstrations and individual attention, you can work at your own pace, while receiving positive and supportive feedback.

- Paints: titanium white, mars black, ultramarine blue, burnt sienna viridian green, alizarin crimson, cadmium yellow medium, raw sienna, cadmium red
- Four or five 12”x16" canvases or canvas boards (returning students may work with their preferred sizes)
- Brushes: one-inch flat brush (square tip), half inch flat brush (square tip), quarter inch flat brush (square tip), #6 or #8 round brush with a good point
- 2B lead pencil
- 4B charcoal pencil
- White gesso
- Willow charcoal sticks
- Small (5”x7”) notebook
