Comic Book Studies

comic book studies

This program offers students a chance to draw comic books in a variety of different styles, including Japanese manga, traditional super hero, and underground experimental. The class will learn to adapt stories into graphic narratives and complete a finished comic, drawing inspiration from comic books and other forms of art like music, movies, and videogames. Focus will be on colour theory, perspective, dynamic human figure drawing and composition, while students will have the opportunity to create works that represent their ideas using powerful composition, dramatic lighting and expressive design. Heroes, villains, scary monsters, and space aliens that want to take over the world will come to life in this hands-on program.

Please Note: Programs will be held at the School or off-site due to space limitations. All off-site classes will be held at the First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto, located at 175 St. Clair Avenue West. Should a class be held off-site, families will be given one week’s notice.

  • Students who register for both a morning and afternoon class will automatically be enrolled in Lunch Supervision free of charge.
  • Lunch supervision does not include food. Campers provide their own lunch (no nut products please).
  • Before and After Camp Care is available at an additional charge.
