Pick Up Notice

3:15-4:15pm Classes
We will pick up children from Brown Junior Public School at 3:10pm (participants are picked up from the School office) or parents/caregivers with children at other schools can drop-off early.

For kids staying to enjoy another after school program, we ensure that they get to their 4:30pm Arts School class! Otherwise, children can be picked up at the Arts School at 4:15pm.

Should you require pick-up from Brown School at 4:30pm special arrangements must be made in advance and $20 + HST will be charged for the service.

Acting for Film & TV
(Grades 4-8 & Grades 7-12)

If you dream of being on television or acting in a film, then this class is for you! Through improvisation, students will gain a better understanding of creating a character, working with a script and having a great on-camera presence. Each term will offer different skill-building exercises and will continue to prepare students for performing and auditioning. This class is also appropriate for kids who want to sharpen their presentation and public speaking skills. The class will produce a short on-camera piece every semester and copies will be given to each participant.

Advanced Acting
(Grades 7-12)

Students who are serious about acting and performance will get a deeper understanding of all aspects of the actor’s craft. From improv to scene study, monologues, commercial, television and theatrical training will all be explored, with an emphasis on both performance and the art of the audition itself. “Mock auditions” and the business of presenting yourself as an actor will all be explored in this course.

ARAS Musical Theatre Company
(Grades 7-12, by audition)

with Allison Beula / Darnell-Brandon Thomas

This is a yearlong program with the cast working on two full length musical theatre productions at a professional theatre venue. Singing, voice work, choreography, movement, improvisation and character development will be incorporated in this performance-based class designed in a professional, company setting format. One on one singing/music coaching as well as choral work will be part of the program. Costumes, set and props are part of each performance and students will be expected to attend extra blocking, dress and technical rehearsals. Students may choose to register for the full year and participate in both shows or registration will also be accepted for one production alone. Students must request an audition if new to the program.

Little Characters
(JK/SK)

Young artists will be introduced to exciting themes through art and drama lessons, while they create projects that will be worn, used and interacted with to develop imaginative and unique stories and characters. Students will be exposed to a variety of art materials, which will then be incorporated into storytelling, drama and creative movement.

Musical Theatre Company I
(Grades 3-6)

If you love acting, singing and dancing and want to be in a musical show, then this class is perfect for you. The cast will work on a new musical performance each term. Using improvisation, drama exercises, vocal and movement studies and script work, young performers will learn how to perform in a musical theatre show. Performances will all be based on shorter versions of well-known musicals.

Preschool Arts
(3-5 years)

This integrated arts class of visual art, drama, creative movement and music allows young children to bloom and discover the uniqueness within themselves. Presented with different themes from literature, science, social studies, history and the environment, children will develop an understanding of the world around them through creative projects and activities. Students will begin to understand performance and physical communication through drama and music and will be exposed to drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and assemblage. A variety of materials are incorporated to create dynamic and individual pieces.
